Love is a Verb

Yelling. Nagging. Shaming. Ignoring. Controlling. Fighting. Rejecting. Name-calling.
Telling white lies. Hiding the truth. Wanting privacy. Keeping secrets.
Let's be clear. That is not love.
We might do these things out of fear, or wanting control, or anxiety, or insecurity. But it's not love.
In our culture, we are taught self-reliance. Independence. Being selfish. Looking out for ourselves.
That is not love and it's not from God.
Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other's faults because of your love.
-Ephesians 4:2 (NLT)
Because love is selfless, accepting, forgiving, kind.
Love is truth.
Love is putting someone else above yourself. Love is choosing to see the best in someone. Love is sacrifice. Love is commitment. Love is not giving up when things get hard.
Love is picking up the slack when need be and not complaining about it.
Love defends. Protects. Supports. Encourages.
Love is a verb.
